Marlene's obituary

Marlene passed away at her home in Papillion on May 3, 2022, peacefully surrounded by her family.

Preceded in death by her parents James, Myrtle, and stepmother Genevieve, siblings Robert, James, Mary, Douglas, and grandson Bryan. Survived by her stepsister Mary Lynn, her three children Rodger (Catherine), James (Valentina), and Mary (James), her grandchildren David, Zachary, Regina, Christopher, Jacob, Jennifer, Lindsay, and great-grandchildren Keegan, Kennedy, Juliet, and Maylynn. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews who all feel the loss.

Marlene graduated from Akron High School, Akron, Iowa. Her love of education started in Akron continued to the University of Iowa for her bachelor’s degree and concluded with her receiving her master’s degree and Doctoral Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She began her career as an occupational therapist working in a tuberculosis ward in the late 50s. She ended her career at Creighton University as a professor in the OT department that granted the first Doctor of Occupational Therapy. She was a forever teacher, and her last wishes were to be a donor to the Anatomical Board of the State of Nebraska for the medical and dental students.

VISITATION: Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 5 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church in La Vista, NE.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 6 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church in La Vista, NE.
