The term Brilliance only scratches the surface of the Mark I grew up knowing as a friend.
He was imposing, both physically and mentally. He would read ahead in the text books we were assigned in our classes at Roosevelt, a small, private 'laboratory school' in Michigan. He did this knowing our student teachers carrying a full schedule of classes at the local university would only be familiar with the latest chapters we had been required to read and unable to respond to his questions based on information at the end of the text. To me, that's a metaphor reflecting how Mark lived his life. Always looking ahead, driven by a tenacious curiosity and a razor sharp wit. A force to be reckoned with and a friendship to be cherished. Ultimately, it's the last chapter of a life that displays how time was used and what was learned. The photos Jason posted depict the 'Essence of Mark', a proud father, a caring grandfather, a dear friend , a pragmatic genius. Mark was a big personality. His absence leaves a major void. I'm very fortunate to have known him over the many decades we traveled together. I send sincere condolences to his immediate and extended family. Bon Voyage....Samuel
