Mark's obituary

Mark was born on February 23, 1993, in Annapolis, Maryland. He graduated in 2011 from Broadneck High School and he continued his education, to earn his electrical certificate at Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Chesapeake (2012 - 2017) to become a journeyman electrician. He and his best friend Josh attended together and worked together for years. Mark’s career with was as an electrician for a commercial HVAC firm.

Mark resided with his family in Sudlersville, Maryland in their forever home. He loved his life at his home, which was the hub for so many gatherings and parties for family and friends.

Mark was a force of nature and everyone that came into his world was better for it. He was a dedicated family man to his surviving wife and son, his extended family, and to so many friends that were his chosen family. Time with friends and family was the most important thing in Mark’s life.

Mark was a generous, caring man who never thought of himself before others. His wife was truly his soulmate and their son completed their beautiful family.

Mark’s happy place was on the water. He was an avid boater and fisherman, as well as a accomplished bow hunter. Mark loved traveling and exploring new places and trying new things. He was funny and could always make you laugh, even if it was at his own expense. Bourbon, oysters, motorcycles, boating, and music were some of his top passions.

Among those grieving Mark’s loss are his loving wife Amanda Smith and their young son Logan Hopper Smith. Mark is survived by his mother Debi Kessler-Smith and his father Matt Smith, along with his brothers Christopher Monnett and Michael Monnett. Mark also leaves behind his ‘other’ parents, his in-laws Barry and Kim Stahl, who considered him their son as well. He also leaves behind his nieces Alyssa and Brooke, as well as his nephew Caiden, along with his sisters-in law Tasha Monnett and Blair Monnett. Mark is also survived by his grandfathers David Kessler and Bud Smith, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mark is predeceased by his grandmothers, Jacqueline Kessler and Sally Smith.
