Mark's obituary

Mark Nolte, a charming, snarky, and hilariously warm soul, lost a long battle with grief after the loss of his soulmate, Cherilin Stephens, on November 1st, 2025. A lover of communal nachos, verbose authors, justice and fine liquours, Mark always had a fun and tender word for his family and friends. Losing Cherilin in 2019 meant losing a part of his self: his collaborator in humor, drink, joy and nacho-building. Known for looking especially sharp in a fedora and suit, Mark worked at various important causes for freedom of expression, civil liberties and justice over the years: his family ask the community to donate to PEN America in his memory. He was a beloved uncle, brother, son and friend, and will be deeply missed.
