Mark's obituary

Our beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, Mark Matthew Meldrum, left this earth after a brief, but difficult battle with liver cancer.  A fighter until the end, he passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 24th, 2023 at the age of 68.  He is survived by a loving wife, three daughters, four grandchildren, three sisters, numerous nieces & nephews, a step-father, and countless friends.

Mark was born January 9th, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, with a true spirit of an entertainer.  Having a flair for theatrics & short stories, he loved the art of storytelling and could make even the most mundane act one of great adventure.  Also a skilled singer/songwriter with a passion for the guitar, he spent countless hours perfecting his abilities and sharing his love of music with others.

A warrior throughout his life, Mark chose to serve in the United States Marine Corps and became a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War.   Corporal Meldrum was a member of the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Shore PartyBn, Force Troops, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic Special Operations Battalion, as well as the Shore Party (RedPatchers) unit with multiple occupational specialties (expert sniper, sharpshooter, air and naval gunfire liaison ground controller ANGLICO).   He also served as an assault combat engineer, combat heavy equipment operator and a combat demolitions man.

Mark was an accomplished musician, a loving father, an honorable soldier, and a proud descendant from the Clan Gordon of Scotland, Meldrum Sept.  He will be dearly missed and always remembered.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on August 25th at Peabody Park, Appleton WI, with Military Honors.  All friends and family are invited to join in celebrating his legacy.

*Flowers are welcome & can be directed to Peabody Park or the Doubletree Hilton in Appleton, WI for day of service; funeral expense donations are greatly appreciated.  Monetary donations can be made through Mark's Ever Loved memorial web-page.
