Mark's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mark McHolland, a man of intelligence, curiosity, and open-mindedness. Born on October 18, 1955, Mark left this world far too soon on March 27, 1999. He was a treasured family member, a lover of the macabre, and an explorer of the unknown, and he leaves a legacy of lifelong learning.
Mark is survived by his daughters, Jennel McHolland and Dawn Lynch, his sister, Melody Kelly, and his brother, Keith McHolland. His mother, Donna Mae Bradbury, predeceased him.
Mark had a quick wit, an inquisitive nature, and a playful spirit. He was a free-thinker who embraced all things dark and fantastical. His love for horror and science fiction was well-known, reflected in his favorite authors, Stephen King, Anne Rice, and Richard Bachman.
He enjoyed simple pleasures such as tea, watching TV shows like Zena and the X-Files, and spending time engaging in recreational activities. Mark loved going to the movies, reading, and playing video games with his daughter, Jennel. He remained active by bicycling, and he often frequented one of his local haunts, the Little Valley Dine-in.
Always eager to share his wisdom, Mark encouraged those around him to be open to the unknown, not to fear the darkness, and to perpetually expand their minds. His philosophy was to always read, learn, and grow. This is the legacy he leaves us with - a legacy of continuous exploration and growth.
His rich character, depth of knowledge, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. His penchant for the darkness in literature and film, coupled with his ceaseless pursuit of knowledge and exploration, will continue to light the way for his loved ones.
