Mark was born on March 10, 1968 in Corpus Christi, Texas and passed peacefully on July 3, 2024 in Portland, Oregon where he has lived for the majority of his adult life.

Mark lived a full life by any measure, through the number of places he lived, the even greater number of places he traveled, and the many different careers and hobbies he pursued with great interest. While Mark took everything he could from those experiences, the measure that fits him best are the relationships he made throughout his life.

Mark would talk to nearly anyone he came into contact with, with a hardwired compulsion to connect with others. His open, genuine, and goofy personality made him a friend to so many different people who could always rely on hearing a dad joke, a perfectly told story, or some other funny anecdote whenever they saw him. Nearly always, Mark’s presence also meant music. Both listening to and playing live music, of all different kinds, was a constant passion throughout his life.

The genuine interest and curiosity he felt for the things that impacted the world, and especially those around him, was unlimited. In a world filled with endless variety, Mark explored every aspect that caught his attention, usually because it connected back to the people he cared about, with warmth and acceptance. Eager to learn from others, and eager to share what he had learned, Mark was a conduit of the human experience. Mark’s gift was to bend those experiences towards laughter, lifting us up to the joy life could bring.

Mark’s passing was unexpected, and his absence was immediately felt by all those who knew him. Mark relished life, taking it all in at once, as much as he could for as long as he could and he inspired those around him to do the same, in ways both big and small. Mark took the most joy out of being a father and provided the comfort of open arms and unconditional love to his children, who were the source of his greatest sense of accomplishment.

He will be missed by all those who knew him, and the world is dimmer for his loss. He is survived by his fathers Roy Mascorro and Larry Schlott, his mother Candy Schlott, his siblings Jeremy, Cami, Lori, Marissa, and his wife Suzanne, and his children Hollis, Lucia, Sorrelle, and Elias
