Mark Devin Lavender of Chesterfield, VA, born March 18, 1967, was unexpectedly called back to his sovereign Creator on February 28, 2026.

Throughout his life, Mark found great fulfillment in the craftsmanship of building and riding bicycles. He was an avid fan of hockey and mixed martial arts and took immense pride in the cultivation of his gardens. His life and career afforded him the opportunity to live and work in Florida, Bermuda, Texas, and South Carolina, as well as enjoy travels to Jamaica.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Ann (Bean) Mills of Richmond, VA, on July 23, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Yorty, of Chesterfield, Va and brother, Jeffrey S. Lavender; sister-in-law, Marjorie Perez Medolphe; and nephew, Kalem Lavender Perez, all of Tampa, FL.

Mark and Sherry first met in 1981. Their enduring connection spanned 45 years, 15 years of which they spent inseparable prior to his passing. Mark loved and treated Sherry’s sons—Corey Yorty of Chesterfield, VA, and Cameron Yorty of Anderson, SC—as his own. He is also held in high regard by his close friend, John Hammell of Bayard, NE.
