I knew Mark from 24 Hour Fitness over many years of us both going there. He was always encouraging about my running endeavors and was a genuinely friendly guy. I would often see him at local running events like the Primo’s Run or DMR. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mark Ramirez, heaven has gained another ambassador to heaven 😇❤ !

I have missed seeing you the past 2 years ( covid kept us away from the runs, messages kept us in contact)and at times think I see you. If I listen to my ❤️ I hear your encouraging words and the quote we borrowed from a friend of mine " Inspire before you expire!" Well done good and faithful servant ! I will miss you .......

RIP my friend…what a shock. You were an inspiration. If there was anybody who was the example of loving life and treating others well, especially strangers it was you.

Goodbye my friend. I was lucky enough to have you in my corner almost since the day we met. With all of our adventures (and misadventures), you showed me how to live life to its fullest and look at the bright side of everything. You were truly one of a kind.

Today as I run, my heart and memories are on my friend Mark Ramirez, who is running in glory today. This community and I am better because of you.

The world has one less wonderful human in it today. Mark Ramirez was a gentleman, a true friend, and an inspiration. I enjoyed running many miles with Mark over the years as he helped me learn how to race longer distances. He was always an amazing ambassador for the sport, an incredible training partner, and very special man. He will be missed by so many.

Rest In Peace, Mark. ❤️🙏🏼

My dear friend Mark Ramirez, I remain shocked at your untimely passing. You were simply a true leader of life. I will miss you. I will miss our talks about any and everything. I will miss our yummy sushi lunches. I will miss your sage advice about proper body mechanics and how to pace my runs. I will miss your leadership, inspiration, positivity, zest for life, kindness and knowledge. The list is endless. You were a true force. A true example of what it means to live in and appreciate each moment. You overcame so much in this life and anyone who crossed paths with you is better for it. You left an unmatched, indelible, beautiful imprint on this world. May you rest in Peace, dear man. 🙏❤

I've repeatedly shared this quote with the boyz, one you used to often share with me...

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why we call it ''The Present.' You were the true present to us all.

I love you, Mark Ramirez ❤️! I am so sad for you, your family and all who loved you. Your passing is such a tremendous loss 💔. It doesn’t seem real.

I often wondered how I got so lucky to have someone as precious as you in my corner. Your love and friendship knew no bounds.

We met through running. Like so many of your friends. One of our favorite memories as friends was one of our first, from the late 90’s/early 2000s. Can’t remember the exact race date. We often talked about it over the next 20 plus years. We had both run CIM. Mark had finished ahead of me and when I crossed the line he was there. It was a freezing cold day and he was wearing shorts and a tank top and shivering. I asked him where his dry clothes were. He said instead of doing a sweat check he had given his dry clothes bag to Kathy to meet him at the finish, but he couldn’t find her 🥶. I said come with me and we got my dry clothes bag and I dressed him head to toe in my extra clothes including my extra socks as gloves 😊. He was so happy and warm. We all went home from the race and I forgot about it. The next week he came to my home and brought me a gift. A clear briefcase filled with chocolate coins wrapped in gold foil and a card that said I was worth my weight in gold 😊❤️. Awwwww. So thoughtful. That was Mark.

Our friendship grew over the years, over many miles together and family milestones. He loved our Tuesday track workouts and often invited people he met on the Ironhorse trail to join us. He loved the Friday hill runs and was always the first to snap a sunrise picture and share it with words of gratitude. On weekend long runs you were so lucky if you got to run with Mark. He always offered nuggets of wisdom to help you toward your goals. If you were going through anything he would pray for you and follow that up with a text and more words of encouragement. One of my favorite things to chat with him about was his love story. I would ask him to repeat the story over the years of how he and Kathy met and got married and raised a family. He just gushed with love for Kathy and his family and I loved hearing the story.

He always supported and loved my family. Our daughter Madison who is now a freshman in college adored Mark. He was there through my pregnancy and all the way through now. He cheered her on in all her races and attended her big high school events and milestones. Madison feels this loss tremendously. To have someone who loves you that much is such a gift. She has been so blessed to have Mark supporting her.

What stands out to me the most about Mark was his faith, grace and ability to encourage anyone he came in contact with. My running friends have been sharing their Mark stories with me and the common theme in all of them is how he encouraged them. Kathy shared with me this week that they would be driving in the car and if he saw a runner on the street, he would pull up, roll down the window and yell encouragement. She would ask if he knew them and he would say no. ❤️. That was classic Mark Ramirez!!

We called him the Mayor of the Ironhorse Trail. He greeted everyone and made life long friends there.

I asked Kathy and his family if I could host a memorial run in his honor and they burst in to tears. YES! They said. They definitely wanted that and they want to be there.

Please join us for Mark’s memorial run on 11/19/22 @ 8AM right near where he would start his run every day, along the trail he loved so much. You can run, walk, bike, visit, have coffee and food. Mark loved a good run and social.

All are welcome to attend. Please spread the word. ❤️

“There is far more here than meets the eye. The things we see are here today and gone tomorrow. But the things not seen are forever”

Rest in Peace my friend Mark Ramirez

I had a sign on my desk at work of this 👆verse. 2 Corinthians 4:18.

You loved it so much. We often talked about it and what God has done in our lives.

We joked about the 3 marathons under 60minutes symbol i would use to introduce you.

I searched and searched for a photo of us. I am sure we took some.

I appreciated your gentle spirit and kind words when we worked together.

When I left corporate and went into the field with my own business, you were first to connect me with local marathon events where I could have a booth.

And we captured your story in a podcast!

You will live on in our hearts til we meet again friend. You ran a good race. I know you are leading the marathons in heaven.

Our Shaklee family lost an amazing human being that I was blessed to know. R.I.P. Mark Ramirez

One week ago today, we lost our friend and colleague Shaklee Mark Ramirez, unexpectedly and too soon, to a blood clot and its complications. Mark was a very young and fit 67, and we all expected him to live to see 100, at least! He was not only our longest serving employee (49 years), but also the best representation of the Shaklee Philosophy in action in our community of Shaklee employees. We are all in deep mourning.

Mark's loss isn't limited to our community. He was an extraordinary presence in the many tribes he was a part of. An iconic Shaklee employee, legendary in the running community, strong within his faith community...everywhere he went, Mark was a connector. His intention always was to serve, to help, to offer the potent positivity of his spirit to others and...to make people smile.

Joan G. Klau interviewed Mark last year in connection with a project for Shaklee, and my gifted husband Thomas Meyer created this video from that interview to celebrate Mark. Mark himself says more than I ever can about the person he was. And this gives us another precious chance to see him, hear his voice, to know what was important to him, and what he wanted his legacy to be.

Sending love to Mark's wife Kathy Ramirez and their children. We are all grieving with you. xoxoxoxoxo

A week ago, heaven 😇 gained one of the best. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. I’ve been blessed to have known Mark for almost two decades. Exact meeting unknown, but plenty of miles, smiles & conversations shared along Iron Horse Trail while we were all marathoning with Forward Motion Race Club.

You could almost count on a Mark sighting & his company if you were running Sat after 7am anywhere on IHT from Walnut Creek down to Dublin. The miles would fly by as he was the only guy I’ve ever met who talks more than me while running. 😉 I’ve never met anyone else who lives & loved life as much as Mark did. Even a brief encounter with him would leave you with a bit more spring in your step & fuller heart as he had so much kindness and warmth to share with all. 😊

He was an inspiration to all of us. I was honored to be his friend. His warm smile & positivity will be missed by all who knew & loved him. Thank you for making a difference in my life. May you run free & forever Mark Ramirez. ❤️🥰🙏🏼 -Colby Apollo
