When I think of Markie the first thing to my mind is his smile, more like a sly grin like that he knew something we didn’t. I imagine he was prepping for a joke he was about to tell you or a funny story, or maybe just happy to see you if it had been awhile. We will never, ever, forget him and we know he is missed so badly by those who enjoyed is constant company. I cannot imagine how tough it was going through all he did but he was a warrior and gave it one heck of a fight as did those who surrounded him with prayer, and Lauren who was ever present for it all. Wow what strength. A testament to true love no doubt. 
We shared a few texts some weeks back when he was not quite so ill and we were so hopeful this would be beaten again. I suppose it was, just not how we wanted it to that’s for sure. I imagine he is smiling again like he never has before because he is enjoying the freedom from the pain and turmoil here in this life. For the rest of us we try to endure what seems impossible until we meet again. I’m sure he will have even better stories to share with us then. May God bless us all with strength, courage, and most importantly the often illusive peace knowing He welcomed Markie home to that Place prepared for us in Jesus Christ.  My Grandfather’s favorite verse in this life was John 14:2 “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” Amen and Amen.
