Mark's obituary

Mark Edward Graves passed away after a long illness on March 11 in the year of our Lord, 2021. He was 70 years old. Mark learned (via DNA), that his real father was Martin Carrado, (which was Carradori in Italy). Mark’s uncle (Nick Carrado), had a famous chimp named Kokomo Jr. The story of Mark’s real name was like his entire life, amazing and unique. In his 30’s he prayed to God to not have any more excitement in his life and he was blessed with some of the best times of his life, like his wife, daughter, and sailing.
Mark was born on September 26, 1950 in Rome, NY. His mother was Thelma Louise Mitchell, and his father was Martin Eugene Carrado both of Rome NY. Mark was a USMC Vietnam Vet, avid sailor, escape artist, and boating safety advocate (as Captain Mark Gray on Captain’s Log boating safety TV series on the TLC TV network). In 1984, Mark founded the Viet Nam Veteran’s Association to bring positive media to the plight of Viet Nam Veterans who were severely discriminated against and abandoned. Mark was most proud of being a husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife and daughter, Danielle Bates / Graves / Carrado and Juliana Graves / Carrado / Carradori. Mark has 7 half-brothers and 10 half-sisters, yet he is an “only child” born by his two parents, Thelma and Martin. His siblings on his mother’s side are Eugene Morrell Graves II, Lindy Lee Graves (deceased), Charyl Eva Castleberry, Roseanna Joncie Power Graves (deceased), Kendy M Kiepprien, Richard Russel Ruble, Jr., Jason Henry Ruble, Patina Jo Ruble, Ambrose J. Dunaway, Robert Draper Dunaway, and Mary Ruth Dunaway. His sibling on his father’s side are Katie (Joe) Gregar, Jean (Kevin) Neis, Nick Carrado, Diane (Wes) Simmons, Amy Carrado (Kurt Studebaker). Mark is a lifelong Christian and loved God above all else.
“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. May God forgive and have mercy upon our souls and may the Holy Ghost comfort our loved ones. Amen.
