Mark's obituary

Mark Anthony Fleming, born on February 12th, 1950 ( Abraham Lincoln's birthday too! Emphasized, because he was an advocate for one's freedom always! Mark was there for you, be it emotionally or physically.

Mark departed this world, on June 13th, 2023.   Mark had a great sense of humor and loved to crack jokes, especially corny ones, that only would have him laughing!

He was a music lover and enjoyed listening to Motown, soft rock, and hip-hop. Mark would immerse himself in music. He practically knew all the songs and would do his infamous side-way dance to any song!

Mark was also an avid reader and loved to read Tom Clancy books. He was a big fan of CSI and Blue Bloods and enjoyed watching these shows in his free time.

Mark was predeceased by his father, Woodrow Fleming; his mother, Barbara Fleming; and his grandmother, Alma Turley. The love of his life, Ramona Rodriguez.

Mark served his country with pride as a Vietnam War veteran. While battling a 4-alarm fire, he survived a 5-story fall while serving with the FDNY in 1972, suffering only a broken nose. A testament to his toughness. He retired in 2015 from Montrose VA Medical Center. However, Mark's weakness was love, as he was always willing to do whatever he could for his loved ones.

He was a sharp dresser and always made sure wherever he went, he stood out from the rest.

He loved his sports! Which were centered around basketball, football, and boxing. Known for being an avid fan of the Mets, Giants, and Knicks, Mark enjoyed walking and calisthenics as ways to exercise. Mark was in great shape for his age, and he always made sure you knew this by flexing his muscles!!  He had a preference for the colors grey and black, and he enjoyed western and comedy, including those featuring Laurel and Hardy or the Three Stooges.

Mark was a man of simple tastes, appreciating steak and eggs as his favorite meal. His best advice to others was to "Be real, treat others how you want to be treated, and never take mess from nobody."
