Mark's obituary

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, Mark Louis Coleman, loving son, brother and friend, passed away in Palm Springs, CA. He was 39 years old.

Mark was born on December 31, 1981 in San Francisco, CA to Robert Page and Stella (McNear) Coleman. He earned his Masters in English from Portland State University. Mark taught English, did personal training and volunteered for many causes.

Mark was a fierce fan of all things in the comic, science fiction and fantasy genres. An avid collector, Mark particularly loved Green Lantern, Godzilla and Thor. Mark had a reputation for being a generous and loving friend. He was passionate about the LGBT+ community and nature conservation and dedicated time and resources to organizations that champion those causes.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Stella. He is survived by his father Page, his sister Coleman McNear, her wife Jenny and their daughter Elizabeth, his half siblings Jessie, Perry and DB, and his step-mother Jean McGuire Coleman.

A service will be held at the Hood River Inn in Hood River, OR on April 2, 2022 at 12:00pm. All that knew Mark are welcome, superhero attire required. His ashes will be interned alongside his mother at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in St. Helena, CA at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to Cascade AIDS Project.
