Mark's obituary

Mark Anthony Bardwell, age 75, of Bradenton, Fl., and formerly of Bloomington, Il. went to Heaven on Oct. 24, 2024 after a courageous two-month battle with cancer.

Mark was born in Bloomington, Il. to Jack and Marion Bardwell.  He was a talented athlete at Trinity High School, where he played football, baseball and basketball.  Following a year at Canton Jr. College he served in the Army for two years.

Mark was a respected builder-contractor and built many homes, apartments and some commercial buildings in the Bloomington-Normal area.  He also had a window business and a rental store.  Mark liked the challenge and art of being a good salesman.  Over the years he forged long- lasting friendships with others in the construction business and always had a story to tell.

A passionate sports fan and a devoted Cubs supporter, like his mother, Mark also enjoyed golfing and fishing with friends and family and especially with his grandchildren.  His greatest joy was watching his boys compete in sports.  Mark cherished his family dearly and will be missed deeply .

He is survived by his beloved wife Wendy; sons Tom (Courtney) of Bradenton, Fl., John (Libby) of Downs, Il., and Alan (Carrie) of Downs, Il.; and eight grandchildren, who fondly remember him as “Ampa”: Emma, Brody and Cade of Bradenton, Fl., and Ava, Ellie, Bo, Ansley and Avery of Downs, Il.  He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lylah Grace.

Mark is also survived by his siblings: Jack (Barbara) of Taylorville, Il.,  Bob (Kim) of Apollo Beach, Fl., Jane (Ed) of Indian Land, SC, and Jim of Bloomington, Il.   He was preceded in death by one brother, Tom.

Cremation was provided by Good Earth in Bradenton, Fl.   A Celebration of Life will be held Lakeside Country Club in Bloomington on Nov. 26th from 4:30  - 6:30.
