Mark's obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Mark Steven Allmond, 63, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, on Tuesday, October 13th 2020. Born November 4th,1956 in Detroit, Michigan, to Coleman Allmond and Joan Heady Allmond Rogers, Mark was a 1975 graduate of John Glen High School in Westland, MI. He later enjoyed working with his hands on cars and construction. Mark was an entrepreneur, founder of “A Better Walk, Inc.” pavement company and a handmade jewelry business in his free time. Mark continued to pursue his career in facility and construction maintenance until he retired in 2008 after 16 years helping build over a dozen retail stores for a successful family business throughout Michigan, Illinois and Indiana.

In 1980, Mark met and later married, Justine Lynn Dutchess, and went on to have his two loving sons, Nathan and Ellis. His children gifted Mark with two Daughter in-laws, Casey and Margie, and six grandchildren—Ceceila, Addison, Evan, Aurora, Jade and Ellis Jr.

Mark was a force of nature and could have a short attention span at times, but it is for these same reasons he didn’t hold grudges; always compassionate and forgiving of others, creative and spiritual. Often loud, Mark had the courage to wear his emotions on the outside, while remaining tender, sincere, and sensitive on the inside. He was fiercely passionate about his family who meant more to him than anything else in the world, something Mark mentioned often. Anyone who knew him, knew that although he was loud, he was proud– most of all, of those he loved; and always made you feel that way about yourself too. He loved and laughed loudest, more than anything else. Mark enjoyed cooking, entertaining, having fun with neighbors and friends and spent most of his retirement playing golf and serving the homeless.

Mark is preceded in death by his father; Survived by his mother, Joan Rogers, sons Nathan and Ellis Allmond, two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren; brother Michael Allmond and sisters, Merilyn King, and Michelle Greybill; four nieces and two nephews.

Mark will be dearly missed and always loved and remembered.
