Mark's obituary
Mark Alan Bush, age 71, of Columbus Ohio, departed this life on March 3rd, 2026, following a sudden hemorrhagic stroke. Born on September 1st, 1954 to Perry Ray Bush and Reba June Bush, Mark was a man who lived entirely by his own rules, possessing a personality that was as unmistakable as it was uncompromising.
To those who knew him, Mark was a “character” in every sense of the word. He was known for his sharp, unfiltered tongue and a unique sense of humor that often kept his family on their toes. He was rarely seen without a cold beer in hand and a strong opinion at the ready, never one to sugarcoat his thoughts or temper his reactions for the sake of others.
Though his relationships were often complex and his nature could be challenging, he was a permanent fixture in the family story. He spent his years as a man of specific habits, known for teasing the women in the family as his own idiosyncratic way of engaging with the world around him. He lived a life of singular focus, rarely swaying from his preferred routines or his particular way of engaging with others. His passing marks the end of a long, complicated chapter for those who navigated his journey alongside him through the years.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Perry and Reba Bush, as well as his sisters Sherri Tindall and Nancy Jewett. He is survived by his brother John Bush, and sister-in-law Jessica Bush; his sister Marilyn (James) Herrnstein; and his sister Susan Burkett. He also leaves behind his nephew Nicholas Bush, along with a circle of many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will remember him for his iron will and the many stories that will undoubtedly be told for years to come.
In accordance with his private nature and the circumstances of his passing, no formal funeral or viewing will be held. His family will observe his passing privately, finding their own sense of closure in the quiet that follows his departure.
