It has been some time ago that I met Marj in the Strategy Workgroup to change Amnesty’s mandate. Marj was the driving force in preparing ‘toolkits’for discussions worldwide. I have very fond memories of the smart and pleasant way she made things happen. Rest in peace Marj. My warm condolences to the family.

So sorry to read this. It has been many years since we saw each other. Last time was in the estadio nacional in Chile in 2006. She was a formidable force in Amnesty. Rest in power Marj.

Dear David and Family:  We already feel the emptiness that Margarita left in our Book Club.  Her wisdom and respect for others' opinions set the tone and was an example for all of us.  She will always be in our memory and our hearts.

Marj was a mentor, my boss and a friend to me. I learned so much from her and admired her dedication to help others. I will always remember her fondly. RIP Marj.

  Marj was a special woman and such a mentor to me.   I had the pleasure of working with Marj for many years but learned directly from her for a short time in 1992/3.  I learned so much from her in so many ways.  Her smarts, her kindness and her encouragement took me a long way.    Thank you Marj and  love to David and her whole family.

Marj has made a huge difference in my life. It feels too reductive to call her a boss, mentor, friend.  Words don’t really work. I reference Marj and channel her all the time, having learned so much from her, sometimes spoken, sometimes by her demonstration. She was always so generous, sharing her ideas, curiosity, work, thoughts, laughter and travels. I treasure my time with Marj and all my memories of her. Such a wonderful woman. Big hugs and best wishes to David, her boys and their families.

During this year(2024) Margarita and I met once a month -via zoom- to drink mate @ 11am CST. We called mateadas ciberneticas.

We share about ourselves, about culture, politics, our LatinAmerican memories, nature, books, music, and anything that our energetic minds ans spirits lead us. I feel deeply grateful for those moments, our long standing friendship and her deep commitment to social justice. I feel profoundly sad for her physical depart...

Margarita has left us a huge loss for the world and anyone who was honored to know her.Smart, funny , fighting for the right causes. Loyal and of the utmost integrity she fought many battles to the end.
