Marjorie's obituary
In 1972, Marjie met Robert "Bob" Masterson at Godfrey's restaurant where she worked in Bryan-College Station, Texas, while he was on leave from the Navy. They were married on December 30, 1973 and less than a year later, their only daughter, Michelle Anne was born. Marjie and Bob divorced in 1981, briefly, and remarried December 30, 1983 in Austin, Texas. Although their second chance did not last, Marjie and Bob remained friends.
In 1993, Marjie met Bruce Futrell at a local icehouse in Tomball, Texas. They quickly became friends and started spending lots of time together. Both having recently experienced divorce, they were in no hurry to rush into a relationship or settle down. Eventually, Marjie won his heart, as he did hers, and they were married on August 30, 1996 at a tiny church in Tomball, Texas. Marjie and Bruce had a long, happy marriage together, each one complimenting the other. Bruce passed away on August 30, 2017 of a heart-attack, one day before their 21st anniversary. Marjie was never the same.
Marjie is survived by her daughter, Michelle Salinas (Donald) of Seabrook, TX, and two grandchildren, Madison and Nicholas; sister, Susanna Lewis (Dennis) of Sunset, UT; four nieces: Jennifer Parker of Angleton, TX; Deborah Jobe of Waco, TX; Mandy Anderson (Spencer) of Layton, UT; Jamie Stokes (Andrew) of Garden City, UT; a nephew - Aaron Lewis (Keri) of Clinton, UT; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Edward Futrell (8/30/2017); father, Russell Lowell Webber Jr. (11/7/2004); mother, Bessie Mary Morton Everett (10/15/1973); step father, Robert "Bob" Lewis Everett (1/3/1997); sister, Catherine Blanche Webber (3/26/2014); cousin, Valerie Esther Knowles (7/6/1983); and her beloved fur babies, Roxanne "Roxy" the dog and Sydney the cat.
Per Marjie’s explicit instructions, her remains were cremated. Due to the timing of her death, occurring just prior to the worldwide pandemic COVID-19, her family was forced to delay the memorial services until safe travel could be arranged for all family members to attend.
A memorial picnic honoring Marjorie Antheadora Webber Futrell was held at Mansfield Dam Park in Austin, Texas
on October 17, 2020. Family members gathered together to remember Marjie, celebrate her life, share in our sadness, and honor her in death by fulfilling her final wishes. Marjie's ashes were carefully dispersed at the water rocks where she would often wade on hot summer days, mostly because she never learned to swim. Bob, Marjie, and Michelle spent almost every warm weekend for more than a decade at Mansfield Dam Park, building some of our most cherished memories as a family. Family members attending Marjie's Memorial were her daughter, Michelle, and son in-law, Donald Salinas; grandchildren: Madison and Nicholas; sister, Susie, and brother in-law, Dennis Lewis; niece's: Jennifer Parker, Mandy Anderson and Jamie Stokes; nephew, Aaron Lewis; great nephews: Alfonso "Ponchito" Jimenez Jr. and Alex Jimenez.
We would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to the men and women of Encompass Health - Hospice (Houston) for the incredible care and support we received from the beginning to the very end. We are forever grateful for the valuable time we had to spend with mother before she passed. Those precious moments would not have been possible and may never have happened without your guidance and support..
The Salinas family is especially grateful for the love and support we have received from family, friends and co-workers over the past few weeks. Thank you for the thoughtful flowers and comforting sentiments.
Thank You Jennifer Parker for holding my hand, never letting go, even when your own pain was almost too much to bear. You are my best friend, favorite cousin, forever my sister and I love you. ~Michelle Anne Salinas
"I see Hermes, unsuspected, dying, well beloved,
Saying to the people, Do not weep for me,
this is not my true country,
I have lived banished from my true country,
I now go back there,
I return to the celestial sphere where everyone goes in his turn."
-Walt Whitman, Selected Poems 1855-1892
