Marita's obituary

We remember the life of Marita "Tita" Dizon, who was born on May 22, 1947 in Montalban, Rizal, Philippines and peacefully passed on June 9, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at her home care facility in Aloha, Oregon. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2022 and was adamant on sharing her illness with only a select few. She said, “I want to go quietly when the time comes.”

Her personality can be best described as tenacious, caring, inquisitive, particular, and strong. Her presence will forever be missed in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Preceded in death by her parents Dominador and Melitona, and is survived by her younger brothers Bernabe, Victorino, and Leoncio. She also leaves behind four children and their spouses Rommel, Cindy, Marissa, Scott, Marjorie, Geoffrey, and Analyn who are grateful for the sacrifices she made for them coming to the US in 1985 and the resilience she showed when her husband Godofredo Dizon passed away 19 years ago from lung cancer.

Marita's three grandkids Natalie, Brady, and Daniel were her pride and joy. She learned how to drive at the age of 68. She believed in strength through life's challenges, recharging in hobbies like traveling and shopping. She constantly offered gifts and tried to make sure she knew your size or your preferences so she could shop for things for you on sale.  She was creative, from her cuisine to cakes, to stylish fashion. Her specialty Filipino dishes were leche flan and lumpia and enjoyed the more authentic foods like dinuguan and pinapaitan. Most of all, she loved stories, especially of travels (she has been all over the world) and remembering life in the Philippines where she grew up. Her true love is "tsismis" (gossip) and if she wasn't the storyteller, she found a way to get the latest out of you.

There will be a prayer service on Monday June 17, 2024 at 10:30 AM - Noon at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery (333 SW Skyline Blvd. Portland, OR 97221) where her ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband Gody.

In lieu of flowers, we request you to contribute to "Help with Funeral Expenses" at https://everloved.com/life-of…. Whether you contribute or just leave us a memory, story, or message, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Marita's existence was a testament to resilience and strength through life's challenges. Though her physical presence is no more, her spirit continues to inspire and guide us. Rest in peace, mom. You are finally reunited with dad. We will miss you dearly.
