We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Maris Cinis, a man whose spirit and character were truly larger than life. Born on November 3rd, 1951, he departed this world on December 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and an extraordinary capacity for helping others.
Maris is survived by his devoted wife Teri, his daughter Amy Vander Veer (Brad), son Scott Cinis (Nikki), grandsons Ethan Vander Veer, Wesley and Eli Cinis.
Known for his love of working in the garage and the joy he derived from helping and teaching others, Maris’s selflessness was palpable. He was a role model and mentor to many.
In 1970, Maris embarked on a fulfilling career at the Elevator Union, serving with dedication and excellence for an impressive period of fifty years. His Latvian heritage was a source of pride and played a significant role in shaping the man he became.
Maris was most proud of his wife of 51 years, Teri, his family, and his beloved tractor. Maris greatly enjoyed traveling with his family.
A Celebration of Life for Maris will be held on January 13, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00pm at the Withrow Ballroom & Event Center. This gathering will serve as a space for those who loved him, to reminisce and celebrate a life well-lived.
We would like to extent our appreciaition to Dr. Jahagirdar and the Lakeview Oncology Staff for their amazing work in treating Maris.
