Marion's obituary

Marion L. (Dickie) Alexander, age 88, of Lyons, passed away on June 1, 2020, at Community Hospice of Vidalia after a brief illness. He was born in Toombs Central, Georgia and graduated from Toombs Central High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he received the Bronze Star for his service and valor during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a charter member of the John Durst Sunday School class. He served as a Lyons City Councilman for 26 years. He was a member of the Lyons Lions Club and a member of American Legion. He retired from RJR Nabisco after 36 years.

Mr. Alexander is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos V. & Julia Underwood Alexander; two sisters, Jackie Payne and Jo Barrett; two brothers, Truman Alexander and Lt. Colonel Richard R. Alexander.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dot Brown Alexander; three children, Lynn Quarles Staniszewski (Rich) of St. Marys, Ga, Laura Randolph (Ken) of Coppell, TX, Lex Alexander (Melissa) of Cumming, GA; four grandchildren, T.J. Quarles (Sasha) of Glennville, GA, Lane Limpert (Kurt) of St. Marys, GA, Kyer Alexander of Cumming, GA, Ally Randolph of Coppell, TX; six great-grandchildren, Alicia Quarles, Della Quarles, Camden Quarles, Cade Plemons, Colin Plemons, Lawson Limpert; one brother C.V. Alexander Jr. of Clarksville, TN; one brother-in-law, Curtis Vaughn of Lyons, GA; and special friend of the family, Jackie Yawn of Lyons, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 4:00 PM at Lyons City Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Anderson and Pastor Jim Morrow officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First United Methodist Church.
