Marilyn's obituary
Marilyn “Merv” Anderson Harbin, 67, of Savannah, GA was called home by the Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was surrounded by her family.
Merv was born on August 9, 1954, to James “Monk” and Henrietta “Girlie” Anderson in Telfair County. She graduated from Telfair County High School in 1972, and attended South Georgia College. She worked at Action Insulation as office manager for many years. She was an avid reader and fisherman. She loved hunting sharks teeth and arrowheads. Her greatest joy, however, was her grandchildren: Ryder Harbin and Arya, Oliver, Elliot, and Ames Dowd. She was kind to everyone and welcomed all in need. Her children’s friends were like her own kids. Her nieces and nephews were treated the same as her children and grandchildren. She was the most selfless person who always found a way to give. Even when she had nothing, she still found a way. She never knew an enemy, always had a smile, and made the world a better place just by her presence. The world needs more “Merv.”
She was preceded in death by her father, James “Monk” Anderson, her former husband, Andy Harbin, his brother Mike Harbin and his parents, Camille and Buddy Harbin, whom she loved dearly.
Those who live on to cherish her memory include her children, Gillian and Jamison Dowd, of Savannah, GA and Jeremy Harbin, also of Savannah, GA. Other survivors include her mother, Henrietta “Girlie” Anderson of McRae, GA, her brother, Gary (Janie) Anderson, of McRae, GA, her sisters, Elaine (Edwin) Neal of McRae, GA, Teresia (Charles) Spires of Rhine, GA, Bobbie (George) Willcox of Augusta, GA, sisters in law Michelle (Brad) Barrett of Reynolds, GA and Deborah Harbin of McRae, GA and numerous nieces and nephews as well as other dear family and friends.
A Celebration of Merv’s life will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 at 5 PM in Little Ocmulgee State Park, 80 Live Oak Trail, McRae-Helena, GA 31037, in Group Shelter Two. The Celebration of Life will be led by Lay Minister Norwood Davidson.
To honor her memory, donations can be made to The Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, 8815 Conroy Windermere Rd. Suite 309, Orlando, FL 32835. www.helpfightra.org.
