Marilyn's obituary

Marilyn Roberta Geis (née Lawson), 84, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California.

Born on July 16, 1941, in Columbus, Kansas, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of Homer Lawson of Kentucky and Mabel Lawson (née Denny) of Illinois. She grew up in Long Beach, California, where she formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories.

Marilyn was known for her wonderfully quirky personality and her steadfast devotion to God. Her faith was the foundation of her life and carried her through every joy and every sorrow. She was a devoted member of Hope Chapel Christian Church in Hermosa Beach, California, where she found deep fellowship and spiritual family.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Laura Kathryn Trojan (née Holland), who passed away on October 20, 2023, and by Laura’s father, James Clide Holland, who passed away on June 6, 2017.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ed Geis; her grandchildren, Jeremy Trojan and his wife, Jessica, of Peoria, Arizona; Jonathan Trojan and his wife, Michelle, of Phoenix, Arizona; and Nicholas Valencia and his wife, Kaysi, of Long Beach, California; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Allie, Seth, and Ethan.

Marilyn’s life was a testament to enduring faith, resilience, and the beauty of being uniquely herself. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering trust in the Lord will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” — Psalm 4:8
