Marilyn's obituary
Marilyn Mae (Munson) Biesemeier died at the age of 80 in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 29, 2022.
Marilyn was born in Walnut Grove, Minnesota on April 14, 1942 as the fifth of six children. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1960. In 1964 she married David Biesemeier and the couple had two children, Kimberly and Scott. Marilyn and David divorced in 1973. In 1975 Marilyn married Curt Christensen, moved to Slayton, MN and added Craig and Brett Christensen and Kim Johnson to her family. After divorcing Curt in 1985 she relocated to Worthington, Minnesota and then to the Twin Cities, living in Eagan for more than three decades and St. Paul for her last two years.
Marilyn’s career was diverse. Her work included time spent as a bookkeeper for a John Deere dealership and as an assistant in the Worthington library. In 2007 she retired after more than fifteen years in human resources for Northwest and Delta Airlines.
Outside of work, Marilyn loved to spend time with family, especially as “Gáme” to her grandchildren and “Sis” to her siblings. She loved being outside and had a green thumb. She had a talent for decorating, especially for Christmas. She was a pool shark, known to some as “Minnesota Slim.” She had a love for music (especially Elvis Presley and Kenny Rogers) and a deep, enduring faith. Marilyn was a beautiful soul who always had ears to listen, arms to hug, and a heart full of love and understanding.
Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Nellie (Gladys) Munson and her brothers Vernon, Virgil and Gene. Marilyn is survived, loved and missed by sister Doris Nelson of Balaton, Minnesota; brother Gary Munson of St. Paul; daughter Kim (Bart) Reed of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; son Scott Biesemeier of Rushmore, Minnesota; stepchildren Craig (Dawn) and Brett Christensen and Kim Johnson; grandchildren Anthony (Sarah) Lumsden, Katanna (Tysen) Taylor, Darby (Lucky) Sayveo, Alexis, Julia and Ryan Reed, Macy and Colin Christensen, Nicole Breitbarth, and Kyle, Cameron and Colton Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; and her three-legged cat Frosty.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marilyn’s life on April 15 from 11:00-2:00 in the Walnut Grove Community Center, 311 6th Street, Walnut Grove.
