Background
On the evening of November 7, 2021, our family lost the cornerstone of our family when our beautiful mother, Marilou Dalisay, passed away; our mother was only 57 years old.
The last two years have been trying for our whole family as we navigated the challenges of our mom's cancer diagnosis, especially amidst the changes of a global pandemic; although she was diagnosed with only Stage 1 cancer in January of 2020, the biology of her disease turned out to be extremely aggressive resulting in multiple premature recurrences, with the disease ultimately metastasizing to other vital parts of her body.
Our mother was known to be a vibrant and kind individual, but it was really her fighting resilience that radiated throughout this time. She fought extremely hard through the physical and emotional pain to beat this disease, and each time it came back, she fought even harder even going through periods where she would endure weekly chemotherapy sessions and daily radiation sessions; there were times when we felt like we were permanent residents at the hospital. The hospital staff had come to know her by name and often commented on how surprised they were at not only the selflessness she showed to other patients with whom she easily befriended, but also her ability to keep showing up to attack the nightmare of her reality from as many angles as possible.
For months, our family was holding onto the hopes that we would be able to spend one last holiday with her, but we were left heartbroken in the last few weeks when we witnessed her physical health quickly decline.
It doesn't seem like there are enough words to express the loss of the light she brought into our lives.
The Dalisay Family would be extremely grateful for any support that you could offer to help alleviate some of the financial burdens we will incur during this difficult time, most notably the costs of her funeral. Unfortunately, our mother's life insurance plan was cancelled prior to her diagnosis, leaving us with bearing the costs of funeral expenses and emergency room bills near the end of our mother's life which have been challenging due to the loss of income my dad, brother, and sister sacrificed to help tend to our mother in her last few months.
Any support would help go directly to honoring our mother, including:
Funeral Director and Mortuary Staff Services: $2,645
Transferring of Remains to Care Facility: $745
Dressing and Casketing of Deceased: $695
Care and Preparation of Remains (including embalming): $1,945
Standard Batesville Steel Casket: $3,695
Funeral Ceremony, Graveside Services, Facility Fees, and Related Services: $2,195
Funeral Hearse and Flower Vehicle: $745 + $495
Paperwork Processing (including Death Certificates): $50
End of Life Emergency Services: $2,766 Contribute
