Allen's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marillen Puangco Guzman. Born on July 29, 1952, she closed her eyes to this world on July 10, 2023, leaving it a little less bright. Marillen, a woman filled with love, kindness, and compassion, had a spirit that could light up any room. Her courage and endearing nature is a testament to the strong, inspirational woman she was.
She was a woman of faith, believing in the power and grace of God. Her conviction and faith were not merely words; they were reflected in her actions, her relationship and love for her family, and how she treated those around her.
She leaves behind her sons Vincent Mercado, Jeremiah Joseph Mercado, Justin Eliseo Mercado and daughter, Zaydee Mercado-Sumaria, who will carry on their mother's legacy of kindness and generosity. She will be greatly missed by her loving children and grandchildren, Jopet, Maze, Alphonse, Noki, Alicia, Bea, Jabby, Lian, and Yanna. The bond they shared will forever live in their hearts.
Marillen led a rich, fulfilling life marked by significant accomplishments. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at the University of Santo Tomas, becoming a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines. Demonstrating an admirable commitment to lifelong learning and service, she entered the field of nursing at 50 years old and worked as a compassionate nurse until the age of 70.
Even in challenging times, Allen firmly believed that God was in control. She shared this wisdom generously, offering comfort and guidance to those around her. Her faith was the serene compass guiding her throughout her life, and it remains as her enduring gift to us.

Allen touched the lives of many with her warmth, grace and kindness. Allen’s inspiring life journey, characterized by faith, resilience, compassion, generosity and love to those around her, will continue to guide her loved ones. Though she is no longer with us physically, her spirit of love, kindness, and generosity will forever be a guiding light for those who had the privilege to know and love her. She is a mother, grandmother, friend, sister, aunt with boundless love. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
