Mariella Occeus, a remarkable woman of grace and resilience, passed away on August 16, 2025, just nine days after celebrating her 96th birthday. She was born on August 7, 1929, in the Dominican Republic and proudly carried her Haitian heritage throughout her life.

Memorial events are private

In accordance with Mariella’s wishes, and with deep respect from her family, her spirit will be released to her Creator in a private gathering of close family members. This intimate ceremony will take place on August 22nd at her favorite place of prayer in Miami, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 23rd at 2:00 PM at the residence of Benita Joseph, where family and friends are welcome to honor and remember Mariella together.
