Mariella Occeus, a remarkable woman of grace and resilience, passed away on August 16, 2025, just nine days after celebrating her 96th birthday. She was born on August 7, 1929, in the Dominican Republic and proudly carried her Haitian heritage throughout her life.

Mariella is survived by her beloved son, Rodrick Occeus, and his wife, Benita Joseph; her sons, Marcus Occeus and Pierre Landange; eight grandchildren, Kristina Occeus, Patricia O. Alonzo, Maria Landange, Elisee Landange, Rodney Occeus, Jessica Joseph, and Emma Sanilas; and six great-grandchildren, Alexis Alonzo, Stanley Landange, Sariah Landange, Isaiah Joseph, Moses Sanilas and Mariana Sanilas.

She deeply cherished her family, often preparing feasts for gatherings and creating lasting memories around the table. Each of her great-grandchildren treasures a handmade crochet hat and a piece of glass art lovingly crafted by their “MaMarie.”

Mariella’s legacy endures through her family, her countless acts of kindness, and the many lives she touched. She will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love.

Her passing is a profound loss to all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
