I first met Marie in 2012 at a community event, she later became my coworker at the Sheriffs Department. She always supported me in my community service endeavors. I learned to follow her example to always be kind, caring and supportive to all in need.

I mainly knew Marie from working on numerous forums that were co-sponsored by Ward 11, 19 and other Boston Ward Committees. When we were working together, there were long phone conversations, making sure we crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's. But in addition to the work, Marie was always interested in what was going on with me. I just can't imagine a State Party convention without Marie acting as the teller for the Second Suffolk Senate district. She put all her heart and energy into everything she did, and especially Democratic Party politics. Marie and I didn't always agree, but she was always willing to talk things through. Her fierce dedication to fairness and inclusion are an example to all of us.
I was born 11 weeks before Marie. It's hard to believe she's left us so soon. This site's description of relationships is deficient. Marie was. my political comrade in arms. Especially now, her voice wil be sorely missed. I send my best wishes to her family after this tragic loss. May she rest in power and may all those she left behind keep getting in good trouble.

The College of New Rochelle Class of 71 has lost a great friend and classmate. We were taught how strong women can be and Marie showed this by example. Godspeed Marie

My deepest condolences to Marie’s family. May she rest in peace.
I met Marie in 1979 when we were organizing Jamaica Plain for Mel King’s first mayoral campaign. We became good friends. She was a big help to me when she was at City Hall and I was running city-funded elder service programs. We also served together on the Board for Friends of the Shattuck Shelter. But she is perhaps best remembered for her work on the JP Neighborhood Council. She was a tireless advocate for her community. JP has lost a diva.

I served with Marie on the ward committee for a number of years. She was a friend and dearly loved! What a fierce and amazing, committed, community advocate she was. I’m so sorry for your loss.

My condolences to Marie's family. I first met Marie in 2005 when Deval Patrick was running for Governor and I attended Ward 11 meetings. Eventually I become co-chair and she was a mentor. We worked on many campaigns together and I will miss our talks and these last months her texts and emails. And I know she is at peace. Sending her family prayers as they grieve her death and celebrate her life.

Marie was a caring and dedicated woman who would lend a helping hand whenever someone was in need. While she worked in politics and for three mayors, she never let down the neighborhood, her neighbors, and the family she loved. Condolences to Marie's family and friends. She now joins her best friend, Rose Sansone, in keeping a guiding eye on us all to make sure we don't stray from the path she expected us to be on!

I was at an event for the Women's History Center when I learned of Marie's passing. Walking passed the State House and City Hall, I reflected on Marie's passion for politics and women's rights and our 40 years of friendship. Condolences to her family.

Marie was a friend I had known for years through our political passions. I will miss seeing her smiling face on my visits to Spaulding Rehab.

Thank you for being a good neighbor, and friend, over the past almost 30 years, Marie.
You were always up for a conversation on the local issuses of the day over a cup of tea, and your absence will be felt by me and others on Union Avenue.
