Marie Virginia Potter, née Calabrese, 94, of Santa Barbara, California, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 21, 1931, in Framingham, Massachusetts, to Ermino and Lena Calabrese, Marie grew up in a loving family as the youngest and only girl, with three older brothers. Marie worked as a manager for the phone company for over 25 years and retired from AT&T.

She is known for her selflessness, warm heart and love for laughter. Marie enjoyed her rose garden, fruit orchard and had a passion for golf. She made many friends within the local ladies golf club where she won a golf tournament in 2018 and also won the coveted President’s Cup in 2004, which was a great achievement. She also traveled the world with the love of her life, Mickey Plaut.

Marie is survived by her life partner, Mickey Plaut; her children, John (Noel) Potter, Donna (Steve) Stammers, Jeffrey (Amy) Potter, Ken (Karla) Plaut; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents and 3 brothers.

A memorial service will be held on October 3, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Goleta Cemetery, Goleta California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unity Shoppe of Santa Barbara, CA, unityshoppe.org. Marie’s number one concern was that her family was always happy and safe. Marie’s love will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
