Marianne's obituary
Marianne Meredith, born in 1941, passed away on June 3, 2025. A woman of exceptional courage, love, and spontaneity, Marianne left a profound impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Marianne was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother, a devoted member of her community, and an admirer of the world around her.
She leaves behind her distraught daughter, Elizabeth Meredith, and her son, Steven M. Meredith. Her brother, Steven D. Mann, and her grandsons, Grady B.D. Meredith and Franklin W. Meredith II, are among those mourning her sudden departure. Marianne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Franklin W. Lynn Meredith I, her parents, James D. Mann Sr. and Margaret D. Mann, her brother, James D. Mann Jr., and her cousin, Virginia Mann.
Marianne was a proud Alumna of Auburn University, where she graduated with a degree in Visual Arts in 1962. In 1964, she found the love of her life and married Franklin W. Lynn Meredith I. She was an active member of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation.
She was known for her artistic skills and her love for Antiques Roadshow UK. She had an insatiable appetite for oysters and loved sipping on her iced water. Thursday Next was her favorite book series, and she always found joy spending time at Starbucks and Jubilee Joe's. Her travels took her across Europe, and she was a fervent supporter of the Auburn Tigers.
Walking was her preferred form of exercise, and she cherished time spent with her family. Bethanne Hill, Kevin Irwin, Ronnie Lewis were among her beloved artists. She visited over 12 foreign countries, a feat she counted as one of her greatest accomplishments.
Her legacy of hand-crafted items, including leather Bible covers, crochet, cross stitch, and banners, will continue to bring warmth and comfort to her loved ones. She was a loving, artistic, spontaneous, and headstrong woman, whose Bible studies have imparted invaluable lessons to those around her.
A burial service will be held for Marianne at the Alabama National Cemetery on June 13, 2025, at 1:30 PM. This will follow a memorial service in her honor at Ridout's Valley Chapel on the same day at 10:00 AM.
