Maria's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Luna, who entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2024. Born on October 16, 1964, in Mexico, Maria was a beacon of love, generosity, and resilience. Her life was enriched by a vibrant journey of 59 years, painting a canvas of memorable experiences and heartfelt connections.
In 1980, Maria chose to pursue the American dream and immigrated to the United States from Mexico. She brought with her a hard-working spirit, and a heart full of dreams. These dreams came true in the form of three beautiful daughters - Maribel, Daniela, and Carina, born in 1990, 1994, and 1996 respectively. In 2022, she became a proud grandmother to Stefano Borra. She filled her home with love and the delicious aroma of Mexican food.
Maria believed in helping others and passionately supported causes such as Save the Children and poverty alleviation. She opened her home to many family immigrants so that they could get settled in the US. She hired hundreds of workers and helped them build a future in California. An avid gardener, Maria derived immense joy from nurturing plants and walking her beloved dog.
Maria found solace in the soothing words of The Bible, the rhythms of Juan Sebastian, and the dramatic twists of her much-loved novelas. Mariachi performances were among her favorite events, a testament to her love for music and culture. She was always on the dance floor even if she was the only one dancing.
Always looking forward to her next adventure with family and friends, Maria cherished her vacations in places like Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Oregon, Hawaii, Orange County, and San Francisco.
Maria's profound lessons of forgiveness and her legacy of kindness and hard work are a testament to her indomitable spirit. Her daughters, all first-generation college graduates, are a testament to her emphasis on education and determination. Maria will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family, her fur babies, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
