Marguerite's obituary
Marguerite Kirchmann Brunn
August 15, 1939 – September 2, 2025
Marguerite Brunn, born in Queens, New York, to Josephine and Joseph Kirchmann, lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and love. She graduated from The Mary Louis Academy and began her career as a secretary with the FBI.
At just 16, Marguerite was reacquainted with the love of her life, Frederick Brunn, at a German picnic in Shutzen Park. The two married when she was 20 and settled in Blauvelt, New York. Though she later made her home in River Vale, New Jersey, and Atlanta, Georgia, she was always proud of her unmistakable New York accent.
Marguerite’s first and most cherished calling was raising her three children. She later enjoyed a long career in banking, starting as a teller at C&S Bank and working her way up to branch manager at Fidelity Bank, now Ameris Bank, in Dunwoody, Georgia. She loved her work, but her greatest joy came from the friendships she built with her customers and coworkers.
Beyond her professional life, Marguerite had a great love of reading and was a gifted writer. Many looked forward to her annual Christmas letter, which captured her wit, warmth, and ability to tell a story.
She is survived by her children: Mark (Wendy) of Fripp Island, SC; Laura Lewis (Eric) of Brookhaven, GA; and Matthew (Amanda) of Atlanta, GA. She was the proud grandmother of nine: Warren Alvord (Katelin), Ashley Haynes, Joey Brunn (Carolyn), Maddie Brunn, Tori Nagle (Brendan), Traeger Lewis, Tucker Lewis, Annabelle Brunn, and Josie Brunn. She also leaves behind eight beloved great-grandchildren: Dean and Molly Haynes; Thomas, Addison, and Eliza Brunn; James and Pierce Nagle; and Priscilla Alvord.
For the past six years, Marguerite resided at The Mansions of Sandy Springs, where she formed many dear friendships. She will also be remembered for the constant companionship of her beloved cat, Prince.
Marguerite’s legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the stories she told. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her faith in God, her devotion to her family, and the love she poured into all she did.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Brookhaven, Georgia.
