Margot's obituary

Margot Carothers (Milligan) Leach, 80, of Berryville Virginia passed away on February 2, 2021 after a valiant 2nd round battle with cancer.

Margot was born on May 31, 1940 to Mr. and Mrs. James Carothers Milligan, Jr. (Esther Lavens Smith) in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from Palm Beach High School in 1959, she met Joe Leach 2 ½ years later in a local hotspot. They got married several years later in West Palm Beach, FL on September 22, 1962, and the rest is history.

Margot and Joe moved up north shortly after and lived in several DC Metro area locations (Wheaton, MD; Arlington, VA) before settling down in Alexandria, VA to raise the family.

Margot focused her life to being a dedicated, loving wife and mother. Her faith was near and dear to her heart, and she was actively involved in the church wherever she lived. She was spirited, the best at giving unconditional love, adored anything orange, and loved lobsters for any occasion.

Margot dedicated her life to raising her children and focusing on the family. This 58-year union of marriage was blessed with an amazing family and a lifetime of memories. Surviving with her husband, Joseph Alan Leach, are a daughter, Brenda Leach McCaffrey, and her husband Jim of Atlanta GA; three sons, Walton Leach and his wife, Kim of Leesburg, VA, James Leach and his wife, Montine (Lexi) of Purcellville, VA, and Andrew Leach of Berryville, VA; six granddaughters, Grace, Sierra, Aunna (Sky), Acadia, Aubrey and Alexis; and sisters, Susan Richardson of Chiefland, FL, and Margaret Ann Laflamme, Jupiter, FL.

A sister, Carol Nelson, and brother, James “Jimmy” Milligan, preceded her in death.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family and friends.
