Margot's obituary

Margot Dorian Hipgrave (née Wray) was born in Toronto in 1944 to Raymond and Jeannette Wray. The second born of what would become a family of seven children, the Wray Family moved to Montreal soon after her birth. Growing up in a bilingual home, Margot would remain extremely proud of her French-Canadian heritage and, although most of her life was lived in Ontario, she always considered Montreal home. She was indeed a daughter, a sister, a mother, an aunt, and a best friend, but as she would always say, she was first and foremost - a Nurse. Practicing for nearly 55 years before a single-car accident forced retirement, her dedication to the practice never wavered. Serving in hospitals, nursing homes, and in the community, she cared for countless people, always bringing with her a warmth, tenacity, expertise, and a big laugh that were all distinctly hers. At 11:45am on Wednesday, December 13th 2023, Margot passed away peacefully at the Dorothy Ley Hospice in Etobicoke, Ontario. At her bedside was her son, Ryan, and his partner, Jessica. She will be missed by everyone whose life she has touched, and she is survived by her brother Raymond, sister-in-law Cathy, brother John, sister Kerry, sister Susan, and her nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, January 28th, 2024. The details can be found on this website under the “Events” section.
