Margo's obituary
Margaret (Margo) Eugenia Johnson passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in early morning hours of April 16, 2025. Margo was born on May 13th, 1956, to George Dickson Pauly and Mary Ives Duhme in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1969 Margo’s family moved to Scottsdale, AZ the same year her future husband, Gary C. Johnson, moved to Phoenix with his family from Chicago. In 1972 the two were formally introduced after a Sunday morning worship service when Margo, the brown eyed beauty, walked up to Gary and getting very close to his face, stuck out her hand and said, “Hi brother.” That was the beginning of a 53-year romantic friendship. The couple got married on July 30, 1976, in Scottsdale at the same church.
Margo was a terrific home maker who loved to entertain. Her table arrangements were works of art. Her decorating flare would always capture the attention of her guests. Known as the Lady in Red, Margo worked at Neiman Marcus in Scottdale for many years. She was beloved by her colleagues, and she sold a lot of expensive shoes!
Margo also developed a color consulting business in which she would aid clients in finding their personal color palette and fashion style. She had many happy clients.
Most of all Margo was a devoted wife to Gary for 49 years; A wonderful Mom to Ryan 45, Melissa 42, and Meagan 40; A spectacular Mimi to 7 grandchildren, Lucky and Zinnia (Ryan and Aimee Johnson), Harper, William and Grant (James and Melissa Peacock), and Pierson and Beau (Meagan Johnson).
Margo is preceded in death by her Father George Pauly. She is survived by Mother Mary 94, her sister Jenny (Ed Chatterton), brother Col. Thomas Corwin Pauly (Stacey), Her three children and 7 grandchildren and her very grateful husband, Gary, who is very thankful that the brown eyed beauty, the fairest of them all, got very close to his face and said “Hi Brother, I’m Margo!”
A memorial service will be held at The Springs Church on Saturday, May 10th at 1:00pm. 6135 W. Detroit St. Chandler, AZ. Reception to follow at James and Melissa Peacock’s Residence.
