Jean's obituary
Margery Jean (McLarty) Jenner was born on a farm in Neche, ND on Sept 11, 1930. She graduated with a degree in teaching from Mayville State Teacher's College, where she met Herb Jenner, whom she married and with whom she had three children. She moved from North Dakota to California, Wyoming, Bend, Tumalo, Astoria, and finally West Linn, Oregon in 1966, where she lived until her passing. A 1968 PSU Bachelor's in Education graduate, she continued taking classes related to teaching up until retirement. Jean, or Mrs. Jenner as she was often called, was an elementary school teacher until 1991. During this time she taught at Palisades, Hallinan, and Lake Grove schools, where she made a lasting impact on the many children who came through her classroom.
Jean volunteered her time with local environmental and cultural groups, like the Tualatin Riverkeepers, and maintained a large group of friends into her 90s. She connected with friends through an interest in quilts, sewing, gardening, mystery novels (and reading in general), being a retired educator, and playing Bunco. Jean was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 but made a full recovery. She found quilting helpful during the recovery process and she also made 5 quilts during COVID. In her later years, she knitted and crocheted over 350 sweaters and hats for newborns and donated them to local charities.
Jean passed away at home on December 26th, 2024. She is survived, loved, and missed, by her daughters Heather and Gail, son-in-law Scott, grandchildren Brandy (spouse Kit) and Steve (spouse Stasia), great-grandchild Jaden, and many others whose lives she touched.
