Margaret (Peggy) Jeanne Streed
August 4, 1937 - January 5, 2025
On the morning of January 5, 2025, loving mother and grandmother, Margaret “Peggy” Jeanne Streed passed away peacefully at her home in Livermore, CA comforted by her family. Peggy was 87 years old; born August 4, 1937 in Morris, MN.
Peggy grew up in Kensington, MN where she completed her K-12 education. She attended St. Cloud State University and graduated with a BS degree in Elementary Education. While attending college, Peggy met her husband-to-be, Edwin Streed from Appleton, MN. They were married on August 1, 1958 in Kensington, MN. Her teaching career began in Medford, MN where she taught 1st grade for 1 year, followed by another year of 1st grade in Little Falls, MN. Peggy then became the Music Director for grades 1-6 in Wadena, MN where she also enjoyed teaching the daily classes and directing the annual operetta. Moving to Menomonie, WI, she held the Elementary Reading position before moving to Tempe, AZ where she taught kindergarten for 3 years. Peg and Ed then returned to MN where she taught pre-school at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka for 15 years. Retirement came after 9 more years teaching kindergarten at Morris Bye Elementary School in Coon Rapids, MN.
She enjoyed playing bridge with several bridge groups, attending functions with her long time sorority sisters of Beta Sigma Phi, and spending time with her family. In October 2015, Peggy and Ed relocated to Livermore, CA to be near their daughter and her twin boys Colton and Kaleb, where she enjoyed years of watching the boys play baseball.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Beth (Elise) and her sons Colton and Kaleb of Livermore, step son Cameron (Nekaya) Streed; son Mike, and family from the metro area, MN; and sister Anne O’Flynn of Elbow Lake, MN, and sister-in-law Bobbi Osterberg of Canby, OR.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Streed, parents Addie and Walt Osterberg, sister Lois Brown, and brother Jim Osterberg.
A private memorial and inurnment with family will be held with family later in January at Roselawn Cemetery in Livermore, CA
