We enjoyed hearing the stories shared at Kathy’s memorial, but we wanted to share a different perspective on her culinary skills. In 2010, we had the terrific experience of riding the STP ( Seattle to Portland) bicycle ride with Bob and Rebecca. The night before, Kathy prepared a wonderful dinner for our entire group ( and went on to be the perfect support person for the rest of the weekend.)  As with everything, she did all with cheer and superb planning.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your life!  Ernie and Mary Zeiger

From our dear friends, Connie and Chuck Brock-

Words escape us, so we turn to Kathy's life lived so well, to remember her: KINDESS, no one who crossed her life for an hour or for 60+ years would escape he kindness to each she met;

GENEROUS, whatever she decided to support whether it be hospital boards, the need for pre-school, reading resources for all children through RIF, her service to her churches, her own children's school and extra-curricular activities, if Kathy was involved it was full bore, all her energy, time and skills generously given;

CHEERFULNESS, which if you had occasion to stay overnight in her presence you experienced as you awoke to her whistling with the birds, the rising sun and encouraging heart, "time to get up for a walk," she'd encourage all with a lilt to her voice; and we suppose what all this boils down to is her

LOVE, for her family, her friends, her neighbors. And at times when the love did not carry them through, her love for "her" Seahawks and her Huskies always animated her Autumn Saturdays and Sundays. As she often said, her blood ran purple. She was a Renaissance woman - such a variety of gifts, hearts, and joy to give wherever she was.

With love (?) Oh no, no no no it's with amazement and gratitude that we can count Kathy and Bob as friends.

The loss of Kathy is overwhelming right now but the pleasure of knowing her will always bring a beautiful memory. Blessings to Bob and family 🙏🏻.

When I came to First Presbyterian Church Kathy was one of the first to walk up and greet me.  Kathy took the time to get to know me and learn about my family.  During a conversation one Sunday I was talking about finding a place to rent to have a pool party for my middle sons birthday.  Kathy then told me she had a pool and invited my son to have his party at their home.  She was so kind and helped provide snacks and water for the party.  I tried to offer to pay for the use or to help pay for some food but she wouldn't take anything.  She really made his day special and filled me with such comfort that this church was right where my family was supposed to be.  I knew that day that I had a new church family.  I will never forget her warmth and kindness.

My condolences and prayers for the family and all her friends

I have fond memories of travelling with Kathy by train to visit MaryLou and Dick Taggert at Lake Oswego.  They greeting us, we stopped for a dozen famous donuts in Portland, and got settled at their townhouse. We enjoyed lovely meals, a live play, and wandering in this beautiful wooded paradise.
Bob, Bruce and I treasure the San Clemente memories with you and our circle of friends.  May you always have the sun on your face and the wind at your back.  Blessings to you and your family.

Dear Bob and family,  Kathy was a good friend to me and will be greatly missed.  My sincere and heartfelt condolences.  Kris

My condolences to Kathy's wonderful family.  We all have a lost a dear, precious friend who touched and enriched our lives in so many ways.  Like Bob, I have known Kathy since 9th grade.  We have been lifelong friends and shared almost everything there is to share over a 60-year span.  The most important thing was we shared our faith in Christ since 1960.  I now look forward to spending eternity with her.

Much love to all,

Katoo Sherrard

We became friends when our daughters were born a week apart at Good Samaritan Hospital. We were both older mothers with older children. We ended up together at Walk-about, a preschool program in Puyallup. We were the oldest mothers. Lisa and Becca became friends and Lisa would play at their house. Kathy got me involved in AAUW, though I drifted away in later years.  Both of our daughters later attended Charles Wright and were part of a group of girls all with moms our age and older siblings. Though I didn’t see much of Kathy after the girls graduated, I knew of her struggles with breast cancer. I would occasionally run into her at the Puyallup Farmer’s Market. Her smile always seemed to light up a room. I regret our friendship wasn’t closer, but I will always cherish knowing her. She will be missed.
I wish I could be with you all to honor the wonderful memory of sweet Kathy - but I’m having knee surgery and am not sure I’ll be walking.  My thoughts are with Kathy and you guys and I’ll be there in spirit on the day.

Kathy with her lovely smile will be missed by our P.E.O. Chapter AN Sisters.  She became a member of P.E.O. in 1989.  She loved the idea of supporting women, especially their education.  She was a dedicated Sister, who was very active.  For several years aided Chapter AN with the International Peace Scholarship Fund, the International Educational Loan Fund, and Cottey College for women.

Now, Kathy "has passed through the sunset gates to Chapter Eternal."  She is with many of her P.E.O. Sisters.

We all love you, Kathy.

Kathy was one of the best. I was always greeted with a warm welcome and a sweet smile.  I knew Kathy years ago in the Puyallup Girl Scout Service Unit and more recently as a much loved P.E.O. Sister. She gave it a great fight and will be missed.
The Spence family were our neighbors when I was growing up as a kid in Puyallup. Kathy was always welcoming and have fond memories playing in their yard and having fun in the pool . My thoughts go out  to Kathy's family.
