Margaret's obituary

Margaret (Maggie) Mouradjian, age 87, of St. Petersburg, FL, was born on July 13, 1936, in Detroit Michigan, and passed away on December 12, 2023, after a sudden decline in her health attributed to heart and kidney disease. Though she will be missed fiercely here on earth, she was finally rejoined with the love of her life Armen, who died in June of 1987. She missed him dearly and talked about how much she was looking forward to seeing him in heaven. Early that December morning, the clouds lifted, and the good lord ushered her to heaven, where they were finally reunited.

Maggie and Armen married on June 21, 1980, in Tecumseh, MI. They spent seven wonderful, but short, years together in Flat Rock, MI, and vacationing at their cottages “up north” on Lake Huron. Anyone who knew Armen always had a good story to tell, and if you knew Maggie, you heard a story or two about the many wonderful memories they shared.

Maggie’s career was in job placement at MESC for the State of Michigan, where she retired. Soon after retirement, and before moving to Florida permanently, she spent her summers up north at the cottage, and her winters in Florida. She enjoyed meeting up with friends up north, Dave, Ann, Dawn, and Beth, and was always up for a game of cribbage. She loved taking her grandkids up north and spent a lot of time playing (and winning) Uno and Yahtzee with her grandchildren, Michael Sitarz, Courtney Sitarz (Jason Flanders), Amy Lynn, Heather Beasley, Matt (Ashley) Richard, Kyle (Caitlyn) VanCamp, and Kate VanCamp (Ethan). She also enjoyed entertaining guests at her Florida home where she spent lots of time with her friends, Kathy, Judy, Gary, Norm, Glenna, Larry, Margaret, and Sue, to name a few. She loved showing everyone around when they came to vacation in Florida and smiled ear to ear when telling her friends about her great-grandchildren, Braydon, Ella, Cali, Shaun, Avery, Braely, Bently, Brooklyn, and Evan.

She found joy in painting and became quite good at it. She leaves behind several beautiful paintings, as well as her beloved light-up Christmas pictures that she looked forward to hanging each year. Though she wasn’t a big fan of snow, she loved her snow baby collection, and I am sure she has enough to give everyone reading this at least one.

To say she was a smart, strong woman is an understatement, she was sharp as a tack and tough as nails to her dying day. Her family always came first, and she loved unconditionally. She raised five wonderful children, Cheryl (Ken) Lynn, Cindy VanCamp, Cathy (Rick) Sitarz, Linda Richard, and Tim (Connie) VanCamp. They all pushed her buttons in different ways as kids do, but not a day went by where she wasn’t calling, checking in with her kids to see what was going on. She liked to keep tabs on things, and you didn’t even try to get something past her. Her wit, humor, and some might say “brutally honest remarks” she added to the conversation will be missed.

Maggie was ready to see her family in heaven. In addition to her loving husband, Armen, she is preceded in death by her mother and father, Gordon & Catherine (Coogan) LaLonde, her three sisters, Catherine McKenzie, Carolyn Marr, Wilma Stites, and her grandson, Matthew Richard. She knew her time here was up and found comfort in knowing these loved ones were waiting for her at the pearly gates.

She is survived by her brother, Gordon (Carolyn) Lalonde, her five children, six grandchildren, and her nine great-grandchildren, whom she is surely telling everyone all about in heaven.

She was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, leaving a void that will never be filled, but so many memories we hold close to our hearts. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place, and her remains will be buried at her cottage up north with her sisters. Her wish is that the many memories be forever treasured and that her family continues to create many more with the strength and love she leaves behind.
