Peggy's obituary
Margaret "Peggy" Smith, 85, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away on January 11, 2024, peacefully in her home with her loving husband Peter at her side. Peggy was born on February 14, 1938 to Melvin Schrohl of Rochester, NY and Gladys Douglas of Bradford Co, PA in Sayre, PA.
After graduating from Monroe high school in 1954, Peggy found work as a secretary. It is said that Peggy’s dedication to her work and positive work ethic ultimately saw her pretty much running whatever office she worked at, and so it was not surprising that she retired as a home building administrator in Orlando in 2005.
In 1975, she met Peter (Pete) Smith in Rochester, NY and they wed in October 1977. They raised three children and in the process Peggy learned that motherhood was her reason for being.
Peggy’s loves were simple and straightforward; her husband and family first and foremost, then friends, boating and her travel trailer. Some of her favorite activities were baking and decorating cakes and entertaining friends at her home.
We will miss her greatly.
Peggy was predeceased by her brothers Richard, Raymond, and Skip Douglas, and little sister Patty. She is survived by son Steven Shean (Darla), daughter Peggy Newlan (Ivan), and daughter Sherry Lafayette (Tim). They have 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, not to mention scores of dear friends all around the country.
There will be a celebration of life on what would have been her 86th birthday, February 14th at [time] at the Fuller Metz funeral home.
