Margaret's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share of the passing of our creative and beautiful sister Margaret Carroll Laureys on November 26, 2025. "Maggie", born October 17, 1964 died peacefully at home in her sleep, after a prolonged illness.
Margaret graduated with honors from Barnard College in NYC, and was an avid and prolific writer with many of her short stories published on online literary websites. She was a voracious reader who favored the classics and any of the best written contemporary writers. She was employed for over 20 years by the William Morris Agency as a manuscript reader and editor of prospective authors, and continued on a free lance basis right up until her passing.
She was also a literature professor at the College of Saint Elizabeth's and spoke lovingly of her students, many who have kept in touch with her long after graduating.
Her creative personality extended to a love for the art of fashion, and she enjoyed dressing in the most elegant ensembles whether for an outing in New York City or just to go to the local market. Her creative flair, intelligence, and wry wit will be deeply missed.
Margaret is predeceased by her Father and Mother, Edward Laureys and Cecilia G Laureys, and her brothers Edward J. Laureys, Brian M. Laureys, and Kenneth R. Laureys. She is survived by her siblings Stephan M. Laureys and wife Lisa, Kathleen Clanton and husband Eric, Cecilia Laureys, Thomas Laureys, Vincenia Lombardi and husband Pete, and Christopher Laureys and wife Barbara, and her ten beloved nephews, nieces, and her eight grand nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be notified of the memorial in planning for the month of January.
