Peepers's obituary
Margaret -Peepers- Hiebing died at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, December 29th 2023. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2023, and spent the last 10 months enjoying the company of many friends and family. She accomplished her final wish to celebrate Christmas - her favorite holiday- with family.
A year before her diagnosis she had made the decision to move in with her sister Joan, who took care of her every step of the way.
Peeps was able to walk her only daughter, Laura, down the aisle at a beautiful wedding in May 2023. She spent the summer taking in as many outdoor concerts, family cook outs, patio visits, bonfires, and boat rides as she could fit in. She looked forward to weekly Yatzhee games with her brother Greg, which she usually won. In July she was able to visit many high school friends from Oshkosh at a reunion in Fond du Lac, and in September close friends and family in Madison gathered for a beautiful celebration of Peeps at home in the backyard, partying and dancing into the night.
Peeps is at peace with her husband of 35 years Roman Hiebing, her parents Don and Ruth Haven, her twin brother Mark Haven, and several close friends. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Rose Hiebing (Alberto Garrido), beloved granddaughter Starus Rose Hiebing, her sister Joan Haven, brother Greg Haven, and many close friends who were like family to her.
It is hard to describe - and do justice to - the kind, loving, nurturing, fun, and free nature Peeps exuded. As her father always said, "They broke the mold when they made Peepers". If you were lucky enough to know her, you know.
Her compassionate nature lead her to a career in nursing, which lasted until shortly after she and Roman adopted Laura. Peeps then devoted her time and energy to being a mother, which was her greatest joy. She loved to spend time with family and friends, traveling, camping, going to outdoor festivals and gardening in the summer, being on the water, cooking and finding new recipes to try, decorating her home for holidays, and hosting many memorable parties. She loved being active and enjoyed many years of snow skiing, water skiing, backpacking, rafting, basketball, and other activities.
Peeps wishes were not to have a funeral. She did not want her friends and family gathered in sadness. The family will host a celebration of her life at a later date, and we will update friends and family when plans are confirmed.
Please leave a note, picture, or favorite memories here, and celebrate her today in your own way.
