Margaret's obituary

On Thursday, 10/29/2020, nine days after his 87th birthday, John Louis Csenge Sr., an avid sailor known as "Captain Jack" to 18 grandchildren, made his final cast off, departing quietly in his sleep.  On the following Monday, 11/02/2020, his First Mate, Margaret Louise Csenge, known as "Grandma Bunny", decided on her 87th birthday, also quietly in her sleep, to jump aboard the Jackrabbit VIII with her captain, for the past 67 years, so they could together embark on their eternal downwind voyage over the horizon.

John (Jack) was born in Brooklyn, NY to Louis John Csenge and Beatrice M. Csenge. Margaret (Bunny) was born in Princeton, NJ to George B. de Forest and Margaret Louise de Forest. Jack and Bunny met and married while attending Cornell University and had the first child before graduation. They were in LIFE magazine for the new trend at the time, of being married parents while attending college. After their graduation in 1955 they moved to State College, PA where Jack completed a masters in Dairy Science and an MBA at Penn State. Here they also welcomed their second and third children.

Then it was back to Larchmont, NY where Jack grew up and graduated from Iona Prep. Here Jack and Bunny had three more children. Jack had earlier started with Drake Bakeries as a delivery driver and worked up through the ranks to Executive VP of Sales while at Drake’s. When Jack retired from Drake’s in the early ‘80’s, he founded Jackrabbit Marine, Inc. a very successful pioneer of design, supply and installation of independent electric energy systems in the global marine industry. They sold JRM, Inc. in the early 2000’s and both retired for good.

While busy with her career as wife/mother/homemaker, Bunny worked in several volunteer community committees, was elected PTA president of Mamaroneck High School UFSD. Bunny also worked at Knowledge Industry Publications for over a decade. Both Jack and Bunny were involved parishioners at the Church of Sts. John and Paul. Jack was a member of the Larchmont Shore Club for several years before becoming a member in the Larchmont Yacht Club. Here they began their decades of sailing adventures. Jack remained a member LYC for 46 years. After their six children all moved away, Jack and Bunny moved to Stamford, CT. While they enjoyed retirement and many sailing adventures, Bunny served on several community committees as well as Chair of the Dolphin Cove Aesthetics Committee. Jack was elected and served a term as Commodore of the Dolphin Cove Yacht Club. Eventually Jack and Bunny settled in Belleair, FL in 2016.

Captain Jack and Grandma Bunny (an only child) leave ashore their six children: John, Jr. (Cheryl) of Largo; FL, Michael (Amy) of Stephenson; NY, Stephen (Mary Kay) of Largo, FL; Kirsten Forsman (James) of Largo, FL; Geoffrey (Maria) of Larchmont, NY; Jessica McClaire of Pinellas Park, FL; along with eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jack also leaves ashore his brothers Edward (Laurel) of Crystal River, FL and Richard (Deborah) of Kanab, UT.

Service and Burial are private.
