When my brother, sister and I were little... our mother used play loud music in the house... grab our little hands... then she would encourage us to dance and bounce around with her to the music.
Salsa, 70's disco, Michael Jackson... anything. It was so much fun.
When my children were smaller, I often found myself doing just the same thing with them. They would excitedly join me, giggle, bounce & dance.
I loved to see that look on their faces, as I can only imagine that she loved to see in us. Every time that I cranked the music loud and danced with my, children, I thought of Mom.
Margaret will be remembered as bright, bubbly, funny and silly. She loved to travel, sing, dance and get together with family and friends.
As her cousin Ybis describes her, "If she was a little down in the evening, by the morning, she was happy, smiling and ready to meet the day. I couldn't figure out how she did this".
We probably all remember her Spanish to English mispronunciations & sometimes... Read more barely understandable texts. She had a way about her to make us laugh.
Margaret had always been wildly creative. From crafting to knitting, interior design to fashion, she was very talented.
When we were little, she used to sew us clothes and make custom halloween costumes.
And as we began to have children of our own, just like a Grandma...or Abuela as they called her... she would knit them hats, and sweaters and blankets. She loved being an Abuela.
What she loved most of all was her family.
Enjoying the company of her grandchildren, being of service to her own children, or plotting and planning the next opportunity for which to spend time with them, truly gave her the most fulfillment. When we were young, Mom came to every high school sports game she could. She drove us all over town to hang out with our friends. She called us regularly, just to check in - as we got older, and moved closer to her grandchildren when they began to arrive - in order to help and to be with us.
The most important take a way from Margaret's life, came at almost the very end. Through only what can be explained as a miracle of God, as her mind was failing her, she was able to truly repent of her sins and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord & savior... just like the thief on the cross at His crusifiction.
We saw, and heard her testify... to being filled with God's love and finally... His peace.
"And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise."
Luke 23:42-43
Today we thank you Lord for welcoming her home and to grant her that peace. I love you Mama. Read less
