Dear Amy and Katy and family,
We share your loss because dear Marcy was a friend of our family for 45+ years. We were blessed to have known and loved her, and she touched our lives in many ways.
Though she and Dana were a few years younger than Sandi and me, we quickly became friends after joining Valley Christian Center in 1976. We made lots of great memories together -- hosting parties, camping together, doing special New Year events, learning to be parents together, praying for one another, and sharing life.
Marcy was a gifted educator, a loving mom, and a long-time confidante of my dear wife. The two of them could talk for hours on the phone, and often they did. Though we moved away to Hawaii and then Texas, they always stayed in touch. Sandi and Marcy both had health struggles in later years, and they prayed for one another during every call,
I am so thankful that I was in California and got to see Marcy just a couple of days before she passed away. Though she was frail from the cancer, she seemed to sparkle at the sight of an old friend. There in her Clovis hospital room, we shared special memories, laughed, and prayed together. What a gift to be able to help escort her towards Heaven's door!
I know you will miss her greatly, just as I have missed Sandi since her death in July of 2024. But I am so very thankful for the gift they were to me and so many others. Cherish the memories. Share often your favorite Marcy stories, and be always grateful to God for the gift you received.
Love and blessings,
Scott Tompkins
