Obituary

Marcus Colby Steinman

October 21, 2001 – October 4, 2025

Marcus Steinman, 23, of Topsham, Maine, tragically passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, as a result of an automobile accident.

Born in Brunswick, Maine, on October 21, 2001, Marcus was the beloved son of Geoff and Kristin Steinman, and the cherished younger brother of Jacob. Though his parents later went their separate ways, they remained united in their deep love and pride for the …

Personal note from Marcus's Family

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, everyone. The outpouring of love, kindness, and generosity shown in memory of Marcus has been overwhelming. Every message, every donation, and every shared story has brought light and comfort during an unimaginably difficult time. Your support has reminded us that Marcus’s spirit continues to ripple outward — through the people he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he left behind. We are deeply grateful for each of you who have shown up in so many ways.

We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation to Jason Magno, as well as Jon and Eli Ouellette, who are crafting three beautiful urns for Marcus’ ashes. These urns will allow his remains to be shared with Geoff, Kristin, and Jake Steinman—keeping a part of him close to each of them.

A wholehearted thank-you to Highland Green Golf Course and Caleb Manuel, Conner Smith, Trey Booty, and Camille Rowe for organizing a golf event in Marcus’ honor on Thursday, October 16th. The Highlands are also generously providing breakfast, and Pat’s Pizza is contributing lunch after the event.

Special thanks to Dirigo Septic for donating the portapotty for the Celebration of Life.

We are also truly thankful to Bowdoin College for covering the catering expenses and providing the technology setup to help make Marcus’s Celebration of Life seamless and meaningful.

Thank you!

Updates

Update from Nov. 25, 2025

It’s been almost two months since Marcus passed, and we continue to be deeply moved by the outpouring of love, generosity, and support. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has shared stories, sent messages, and held space for our grief. Your kindness has truly helped carry us through some of the heaviest moments.

As Thanksgiving approaches, a holiday that once held so much warmth and togetherness, we feel the ache of his absence even more. This season brings both gratitude and deep sadness, a reminder of how much Marcus meant to all of us and how dearly he is missed.

Honoring Marcus Through Kindness
In the spirit of giving — and in the way Marcus always lived, with an open and generous heart — we have decided to share ten homemade pumpkin pies. Offering these pies is our way of paying kindness forward, just as Marcus so often did. If you would like one, please send us a private message. It brings us comfort to spread a little warmth in his name.

Memorial Plans
We are still in the process of making decisions about how best to honor Marcus’s memory. With so much love behind him, we want his memorial to feel right — meaningful, healing, and reflective of who he was. As of now, no final plans have been set, but we will share updates here as soon as we have clarity.

Keeping Marcus Alive
Thank you, too, to everyone who continues to reach out and keep Marcus alive through your posts, pictures, memories, and stories. Hearing how he touched your lives brings us comfort, and we draw strength from knowing that his spirit lives on in your hearts.

Closing
This journey has been painful and complicated — and we are grateful for every beat of kindness, every story shared, every memory told. Thank you for walking beside us as we continue to navigate life without him.

With love and gratitude,
Marcus’s Family

To those who helped plan, coordinate, and make Marcus’s celebration of life so special — from the photos to the music, from the food to the small but meaningful details — we see you, and we are endlessly grateful.

To the quiet helpers behind the scenes — those who checked in, ran errands, or simply showed up when words failed — your kindness will never be forgotten.

Every gesture, large or small, has reminded us of the incredible community that surrounds Marcus’s memory. We are humbled and comforted by your love.

With heartfelt appreciation,

The Family of Marcus Steinman
