Following his high school years, he pursued higher education at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, where he earned a degree in Economics in 1986. During his time at university, Marco also enjoyed playing intramural soccer as a goalie—a role that reflected his love for teamwork and sportsmanship. After completing his studies, Marco embarked on a career in the restaurant industry. Over the years, he dedicated himself to his work with passion and commitment, leaving an indelible mark on colleagues and patrons alike. Marco's life was enriched by his many hobbies and interests. He had an enduring love for World Cup football and was an avid supporter of Germany’s national team. Summers found him water skiing on Lake Minnetonka’s Tanager Bay or gliding across the serene waters of Balsam Lake in Wisconsin—where he often remarked that "the water is like glass." Fond memories of his beloved "Blue Bomber," a 1980 Toyota Corolla, brought him joy and nostalgia throughout his life. Marco is survived by his loving wife, Rita; his stepchildren, Jake and Jenna; his parents, Kenneth and Gisela Hanson; and his brothers, Michael and Kenny Hanson.
