Marceen's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marceen Rees who passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024 in McCall. Idaho. She was 78 years old. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend. Her life was a testament of love and kindness, and her memory will forever be a treasure in the hearts of those who knew her.
Marceen was born in LaGrande, Oregon to Max and Loretta Jennings on August 13, 1945. She attended North Powder elementary school and eventually moved to La Grande with her family and finished out her schooling there.
On September 7, 1962 she married Gary Rees. They had three children and in 1974 moved to Wallowa, Oregon where she lived and worked at a sawmill for many years. Eventually she moved to Orofino, Idaho where she retired and resided until her death.
Marceen is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Gary Rees, who was her rock and lifelong partner. She leaves behind her daughter, Kimi Houston, (Mike) and her son, Kirk Rees, (Ralaine) who were the apples of her eye. She is also survived by her sister, Sandy Babic, and brother, Vernon Jennings, (Linda) who she shared numerous childhood memories with. She also leaves behind her 6 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren that were a great joy in her life. Marceen was predeceased by her parents, Max and Loretta Jennings, her brother, Warren Jennings, and her son, Kevin Rees. Their memories were always cherished and held close to her heart.
Marceen was a woman of simple pleasures. Nothing pleased her more than a plateful of Dungeness crab and spending time with her two dogs, Honey and Lulu. A purist at heart, she enjoyed the old western movies and country music. She was an avid supporter of the Seattle Seahawks and the Gonzaga Bulldogs Men’s basketball.
Ice skating performances always held a special place in Marceen's heart, with the grace and beauty of the sport mesmerizing her. She herself was adventurous and loved fishing in her jet boat on the Snake River and Wallowa Lake, the places where she felt truly at peace. The Snake River also served as her favorite vacation spot, a place of tranquility and a source of many cherished memories with her family and friends.
Marceen was sweet, kind, and caring. She was a lady full of warmth and she expressed her love generously to all who were around her.
Marceen will be deeply missed, not just for her delightful personality, but for the profound impact she had on those around her. As we remember her life, may we extend the same kindness and care she showed to others in tribute to her memory.
