Marc's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marc Smith, a gentle soul and an avid nature lover, who left this world on January 6, 2024. Born on January 25, 1968, Marc lived a life full of enthusiasm and passion, touching many lives with his gregarious, thoughtful, generous and unpretentious personality.

His mother Erica Smith of Prescott Valley survives Marc as do his siblings Eric Smith of Japan, Travis Smith of Peoria, AZ, Michelle Smith of Prescott Valley and Gabriella Smith of Kihei, HI, to whom he was not only a beloved brother but also a confidant and lifelong friend. His family and the countless lives he touched will forever bear his memory in their hearts.

Marc lived his life with a constant desire to educate and learn. He believed strongly in the philosophy of favoring experiences over material things, a lesson he eagerly shared with those around him. His tenure at Prescott's Highland Center was a testament to his dedication to this philosophy. Using his native plant and land management skills, he invested his time and energy in educating visiting students about our local habitat, an especially meaningful time in his career.

Marc had a unique and impressive ability to deeply connect with people, treasuring each interaction, whether brief or ongoing. This trait endeared him to many and will remain as his lasting legacy. His genuine appreciation, esteem and gratitude for the paramedics, firefighters, caregivers, nurses, and doctors who cared for him in his last months was a true testament to Marc's warm-hearted nature.

Marc's family kindly requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Prescott Creeks Preservation Association, a cause close to his heart. Donations can be made at 'https://everloved.com/life-of…'.

Let us hold Marc's life and soul in our hearts and remember him for his generous spirit, his love for nature, and most importantly, his enduring kindness.
